How do I make acrylic paints look like watercolor?

I paint with acryllics and want to create a softer painting which looks like watercolors. No, I don't really want to switch to using watercolor at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks! How do I make acrylic paints look like watercolor?
You thin the acrylic paint to a wash consistency with water. You let each layer dry before you add another layer. How do I make acrylic paints look like watercolor?
Hi Jill I am new to yahoo, so this is my first answer!

I know what I think you mean about Acrylic, it can look a bit 'harsh' As others have said, add more water, the other side of this is to use Watercolor paper. The surface you are using has a big effect. Why not use watercolor? Maybe you want the permanence of Acrilic, (IE: when it dries, it wont lift, and can be worked over. May I suggest you investigate Inktense pencils, they apply like watercolor pencils, but stronger color and are permanent when dry, like acrylic. I've recently done some watercolor videos u might find relevant

acrylics can be used with a little or a lot of water. I use them as a wash on occasion (usually make a oil wash with oil paint and paint thinner). Just remember to paint thick to thin. The first layer should be thicker or the same as the second layer and so on. If you try and do a thick paint on top of wet thin it will just drag across.

Good luck!
take paint and then add several drops of water till it looks real watery but not to watery and not to thick either
Mix water in, smart one :P
