What are the different ways to applying acrylic tips?

I know when you apply a tip you do an overlay of acrylic and some people choose to add gel over the top to add that glossy appearance but what are other ways to give acrylic nails that glossy look without gel? And I've noticed some people have acrylic nails with certain colours e.g black pink etc.How is that done? Is it just acrylic with nail polish painted on top? What are the different ways to applying acrylic tips?
Alright............

First of all I've never heard of doing gel over acrylic. You either get a tip glued on and apply acrylic or gel, not both. People like gel because it has a glass-like finish, but acrylic is cheaper and the glassy effect can be done with polish. You dont' need professional products for the glassy finish; I used to do nails professionally and I think that Sally Hansen Speed Shine 10-Day Top Coat is one of the best I've ever used. OPI has a great one too, and it's available at Target. be sure to apply the topcoat every other day, even on acrylics, to maintain that glass shine.

As for colors, there are colored acrylic powders and gels. They look awesome, but again, a good nail tech can achieve those results with polish, and you're not committed to having pink nails until they grow out or until you have them taken off. A big trend right now is to have a natural nail bed with a bright or black tip, which looks awesome. You can do any color you want, and if you're tired of it hte next day, go back to the salon or take it off yourself and put on another color.

Airbrushing is also a way to get cool designs on your nails, it basically involves a tiny paintsprayer which the nail tech uses with a stencil to give you a French tip, or any other design you want, from flowers to skulls. Very inexpensive, cool and fun way to experiment with your nails, and you can get rid of it hte next day if you don't like it. Have fun!!!!What are the different ways to applying acrylic tips?
Rope, string, a group of fellows walking with you holding them on, Staples, nails( the metal kind), nuts and bolts, and glue of course...
