Any nail system can harm your nails if the tech is too handy with the file...they take off too much of the natural nail instead of one sweep with a buffer to remove the shine. That is all that is needed but unfortunately a lot of techs dont seem to realise this. The other damage occuring from acrylic (or any other system) is incorrect removal. They all need either soaking off in acetone or buffing off. Soaking in water will help them come off but it takes the top layers of your own nail with it...as does biting and picking them off.
If you want acrylic get them but choose your salon very carefully, watch them first if you can. If they use the electric file on a clients own nails...if they pull, prise or chip off the old acrylic nail RUN and try another one. I personally prefer the fiberglass or silk wrap system on natural nails...if you can find a decent nail tech that does this system you could ask them if they can do you a french polish with it.I love acrylic tips but I heard its bad for your nails. What is some other alternatives that i can do?
you should try the plastic ones that you glue on. those are much less damaging than normal acrylic nails. they look the same and cost less too.

buy the nails that you glue on yourself; you can get french tips or nearly any design you like. there usually $8 to $15 depending where you buy them. You can buy them from supermarkets.
u can take em off wen u want. the only down side is that they fall of pretty easy so you have to glue them bak on,
hope i helpd :]
A good chance! cool man, handsome man, you can not refuse!
learn more about it from cougarkiss.C O M you may feel so well, because you will have a friend who can stay here to listen to what you say !
From what I have heard, the only thing bad about the acrylic tips is that if you take them off the wrong way, they can damage your nails. Having them there doesen't hurt your nails at all.
