If I want to get started in acrylic painting, what are the basic materials I need?

I took an acrylic canvas-painting art class and would really like to pursue it as a hobby in my own home. What are the basic materials (specific brushes/paints/ect) I need to buy? What kind of brushes or colors of paint do I need to get (this is for medium to large canvases)? Kind of like an acrylic painting starter kit?


Also, can you reccommend any inexpensive but good quality brands of brushes and paints to start out with?

You don't have to buy a large set---enough to get started #6, # 8 and a fan brush.

well im only in 8th grade but i am also going to be in ib art in high school and right now im in advanced art at my school so if it helps you any....








basically what u need is acrylic paint hah duh.. just playing


at michaels they have tons of acrylic set ranging from pro paints to beginners and they have a set for acrylics which has everything you will need

you wil also need brushes i would say the best to use are Artisan brushes but they can be kinda pricey but you could use basicaly regular old paint brushes i would say if u go to michaels you could find everything at a great price i was there last night and they had a sale on the basic colors which is what you really need .


and to start out i would use a small canvas then grow into bigger ones unless you like it better with the smaller ones but i would say give the smaller ones a try i would say try the 16 x 20''
