Dear Ms. Shady,

Your scaring me!!! Please do not attempt to use a Dremel Drill without the proper education. This can be an extremely dangerous thing. As easy as it may look on paper you can seriously damage your nails and the surrounding skin. Dremel Drills should be saved for small jobs around the house. If you really want to invest in a drill consider purchasing one that is approved for ';Fingernail'; use only. Applying acrylic without having the proper knowledge can be very tricky. As a professional I suggest that you save your money on all the supplies and find a good licensed nail technician that can do your nails. In the long run you will save your aggravation and time. Stay away from those ';discount'; salons because the product they use is very damaging to the nails. As for recommending supplies...it's all about what you prefer. Nail brushes range from flat, round, pointed, small large and every size in between. Your choices will be limited considering that you are not a licensed professional. so you will have to stick with whatever products are sold publicly.

If you are that interested in doing your own nails, press-on nails look great or check out nail schools in the area. Best of luck to you!
well dont buy out of a drug store those do no good go to sallys beauty supply store it is a beauty product store the same ones used in saloons but it is open to the public they will have all the supplies you need
its hard to do them yourself and have them end up perfect like at a salon .you need olot of practice.

you can get all the products you need at walgreens or sallys i prefer walgreens just ask someone there and they'll help you.

  • What kind of paint should I use to decorate acrylic wine glasses?

I want to personalize and decorate some acrylic wine glasses I bought. What type of permanent paint would be the best? What kind of paint should I use to decorate acrylic wine glasses?
Plastic model paint - the stuff in small bottles like Testors, which is enamel, probably acrylic enamel these days. What kind of paint should I use to decorate acrylic wine glasses?
You can buy paint made to use on glass. Go to a hobby store and ask for help.
I would think acrylic paint would be the simplest.

What is the difference between oil paints and the acrylic paint in a tube?

Which one looks nicer? Which one is easier to learn to paint with? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? Thanks. What is the difference between oil paints and the acrylic paint in a tube?
ok oil paints - oil based, need turps or white spirit to clean up brushes etc, takes ages to dry but that can be good if you're working in details. can be thinned to create washes, long lasting (think old masters!) shiny finish. only use on board, wood, or canvas really and they tend to be more expensive because of the ingredients.

acrylic paints - water based, dry overnight if used thick so ok for most needs, can be thinned with water, can be used on paper, board, canvas, plastic and just about anywhere really. good for starting cos they're cheaper.

learning to paint is not something you do with one medium and hey presto you can paint in all of them. acrylics handle one way, oils another, pastels another, water colours another ecetera. oils and acrylic have some overlap because they are both gloopy out of the tube, but you're going to make a muddy mess if you approach oil painting like acrylic painting. ask for a small set of each for your birthday and experiment - it's really a personal choice :)What is the difference between oil paints and the acrylic paint in a tube?
They look different, acrylic paints come out brighter while oil paints look muted. Acrylic paint is easier to use if you're just starting, and it's also cheaper. Acrylic paint dries in a few minutes while oil paint takes weeks to dry. Also, you can paint on any surface with acrylics while oils limit you to expensive canvas.

How long should my natural nails be before getting acrylic nails put on?

My nails are super short. (i mean really really short). I'm a bad nail biter. And I'm going to the sports banquet for my school this week and also my graduation next week. I want my nails to look really nice and pretty, but idk if i can get acrylic nails beacuse my natural nails are soooo short.

Also, how long will acrylic nails last? How long should my natural nails be before getting acrylic nails put on?
Your real nail should be really short before you put on fake nails. I mean really, really short, lolz!!!! Here are some tips on how not to bite your fingernails:

1.Hold on to a small object, such as a stone or ball, to keep your hands busy and out of your mouth

    2. Coat your nail with a special bad-tasting polish, available at the drugstore.

    3. Set up a reward system. Use a calender to keep track of how many days you go without giving in to your habit, and give yourself a treat if you meet your goal.

Fake nails usually last about 2 weeks (less if you keep playing with them). Just be sure you follow those rules on how not to bite your nail and trust me... you'll be fine. ( I was a big nail biter.. but now i'm not cause of those 3 easy steps!!!!!!!!)

Hope I helped:)How long should my natural nails be before getting acrylic nails put on?

it doesnt matter the length of your nails. I have a really bad habbit of biting my nail, and i got acrylics put on yesterday, they look really good!

The nails can last forever, it depends. If one rips off, then you just go and get that one fixed. And every so often you need to get them filled. GOOD LUCK!
ur nails dont have to be that long chinese people can work sum miracles with short nails and acrylic but acrylic lasts longer than solar but i prefer solar because its prettier but it costs more for solar acrylic is thicker thats why it last so long
    It shouldnt pass your thumb.
acrylic can last a long time u jus have to keep them up.. and llooking good and getting them done every other weeek.. but u might have to go to shop and ask them if your nails are too short.
well it really doesnt matter i bite my nail short %26amp;%26amp; get fake nails (well i get gel) but i would say that your real nails will grow faster since their so short %26amp;%26amp; you would have to get fill in soon

How can I clean up or restore an old acrylic painting?

The paintings were done by my grandmother in the 70s and 80s with acrylic paint. I'm familiar with oil paints but not acrylics and Ihave no idea how to safely remove the dust, mold, mildew and other dirt on the paintings. They're not worth anything financially, just sentimental. Any suggestions? How can I clean up or restore an old acrylic painting?
Do this at your own risk. I have cleaned many with a mild ammonia/soap solution then placed the painting in sunlight to bring back the colors especially the whites, about an hour. After, if there is some flaking, cracks, you can use a transparent glaze or gel then a varnish over top. All these bought at your local shop. How can I clean up or restore an old acrylic painting?
Very carefully. I've worked as an exhibit assistant at various art galleries and a museum, and my best advice is get a book on art conservation from the library. If that's not possible, look the topic up on Google and see what you can find. They will probably tell you, use a very soft CLEAN dry paint brush or cotton balls or Q-tips to remove as much surface dirt as slowly as you can. Then, they may suggest a gentle moist Q-tip cleaning. But the condition of the art needs to be assesed first. If the paint is flaking or chipped any where- DO NOT get it wet or clean the chipped area, as you may accidentally remove paint.

How do you get a shiny finish to an acrylic painting?

    I just started painting and it bugs me that when my painting is done it doesnt have a glossy/shiny finish. I feel like its ';undone.';

Is there something you can buy to put over the acrylic paint to give it a shiny finish? How do you get a shiny finish to an acrylic painting?
clear varnishHow do you get a shiny finish to an acrylic painting?
I use a clear gloss varnish..it comes in a bottle and you paint it on. It has a pretty strong odor so do it outside or somewhere it won't bother everyone. You can clean it up with paint thinner. I really love it, it brings back the vivid colors of the acrylics.
I like to use the clear varnish spray by Krylon. I prefer the UV protective kind...But if you decide to use it, follow the directions carefully, especially using a ventilated area and using a mask so as to not breathe the fumes..It dries in about an hour, and gives my paintings a nice finish.
